Friday, March 9, 2007 - Day 1: Opened and served right away. Medium ruby red in colour. Wonderful nose of garbage juice, tobacco and sweaty socks—by far the best nose of the 3 reds. Subtle flavours at first; almost muted. Mid palate brought flavours of burnt rubber, leather, and camp fire. Great mouth feel with an abundance of tannins. Wow. After being open for an hour, the second glass showed softened smells of tobacco and sweaty socks but also showed some sweet butterscotch and taffy. On the palate, similar flavours as the first glass, but add some dark fruit as well. While not as tannic as the Pavie or Montrose, this bottle of Clement had tons of lively tannins that lead into a 1 minute finish. Extremely well balanced.
