Thursday, November 20, 2014 - Deep dark opaque purple. Nose initially has smokey bacon, black plum, blackberry jam, pepper and oaky vanilla. Not as tannic as I expected. Fat thick rich mouthfeel. Dark fruit, tar, bacon, blackberry jam, pencil lead, oak, vanilla, tobacco and chocolate take turns across your palate. This is not a wine of finesse. For me, this is too over extracted, but I can see why some would really like it. Not my favorite style however.
