Saturday, October 17, 2015 - While this bottle was perfectly sound, it was not one of the better showings for 1970 Palmer. The condition was outstanding, the color deep and the fill to just below the neck. Upon opening, there was a hint of the beautiful Margaux (Palmer) fragrance of mulberry and plum. On the palate, the wine was medium body with decent texture. But the fruit was muted, even accounting for age, and the acidity was prominent. Bottle variation is to be expected with even well preserved Bordeaux of this age.
