Thursday, September 1, 2016 - Drinking well, it takes little effort to discover the tobacco, cassis, cedar wood and earthy charms. Refined, and in between tannic austerity and elegance, the spicy, red fruits in the fresh finish pack a nice punch. This is a very good Bordeaux, but for Latour in a great vintage, it is missing that little extra something.

I'm surprised that you aren't impressed by that wine; I admit that I have not tried it before, but I am considering getting a bottle, as Wine Spectator tends to be right more often than not when it comes to giving out very high scores. Anyway, thanks as always for your input on wine, you are one of the best reads out there IMO!

2/8/2017 7:52:00 AM - Thanks for the nice words. It is nice to get feedback. As you can see, I like 1990 Latour, but it is not at the top of the pyramid for Latour, and it 1990, it should have been. I would not put my money on that wine, at today's prices. There are better wines for the money, at least IMO. But you might love it. I am not sure what 1996 Latour trades at, but it is a much better wine, and they are probably similar in price.
