95 Points

Saturday, December 19, 2009 - Triple decanted for three hours. What a nose! Strawberry jam, pipe tobacco, rose petals and rhubarb. Very pleasing. The palate is all strawberry with coffee and has a wonderful concentration to it. Very long in the mouth. This is a sexy Barolo and the velvety tannins are still persistent. There is no real hint of vanilla and the harmony is there. This is still a little shut down, and could use a few more years to really come together. i would not even think of having this without a proper decant and plenty of time. A friend of mine, who's palate I deeply respect, gave this a 91 and was not as enamored with the Ratti. I am, however, smitten with this fine Barolo and see many, many years of pleasure ahead. This is traditional Barolo with a little more of a voluptuous quality to it. Glad that I have two more bottles and will ignore their call. Drink 2015 - .

I wonder if there's major bottle variation?
