75 Points

Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - Popped and poured. Beautiful golden color. Nose of lychee fruit and hints of something floral. The CT consensus is roses but I could not directly identify. If you think all Alsacian Gewurz is dry, think again. The sweetness caught me off guard. Imagine the syrup from canned peaches in heavy syrup. Now imagine instead of peaches it was canned lychee in heavy syrup. Now take a lemon-honey celestial seasonings tea bag and seep it in the lychee syrup. Sounds great right? It comes off like lychee flavored Southern Comfort. I rate it a C for wine style quality (there are plenty of better sweet Gewurz's across the Rhine) and a C for value (I don't know that I would drink this wine if YOU gave me $16), for an over all rating of C. (CMS 75)
