Tuesday, October 21, 2008 - Like many 'too young" cabs, this one is best at this early stage right on opening, before the tannins open up and start to rip up the finish. On the nose - dark berries, cassis, vanilla. Right out of the bottle, the palate was awesome - great fruit, oak, chocolate...balanced but leaning towards heavy (e.g. not as elegant as the 2005 Continuum). Air in the glass brings out some fine but dry tannins. At the end of the day, everything seems to be as it should be for an infant cab with a long life in front of it. Good stuffing, good balance, good length. The point score is my best guess as to where this will land longer term. I wouldn't be surprised to see it do better with some age. Good enough that I'm reordering several more.
