Monday, December 20, 2010 - Uncorked and poured immediately. Dark ruby color. Nose of black plum, earth, licorice, leather. Rich, earthy, full-bodied layers of red raspberry, bing cherry, brambles, anise, pepper, and hints of garrigue on the palate. Lithe, muscular, ripe wine saved from being ponderous by moderate acidity and early notes of complexity on the finish. Certainly striking but almost syrah-like in character. A wine reflective of the heat of the vintage.
