Saturday, January 10, 2015 - Dark opaque garnet. Smells very odd...starts off with dried figs or dates, cranberry, oak, alcohol and spice. Seems out of balance to me. In fairness I did not decant this and it may have needed it. The flavors seem very mixed up and muddied. Heavy oak and vanilla on the palate with a strange mix of dried dark and tart fruits. Seems even higher than the listed 14.5% ABV. Very modern styled.
