94 Points

Wednesday, March 20, 2013 - This Don Melchior vintage 17 is by now ten years old. At launch was an astonished Chilean wine rated at 96 points. I bought three cases and it is still a very good wine, not a 96 anymore. Very light bouquet as most Chilen wines are. Dark red Bordeaux color, vibrant, long legs visually. Taste dry figs, prunes, cassis and dark berries. Mocha and dark chocolate are also present. Very balanced, lacks spice, a little acidity and tannin. Actually is closed to an outstanding Merlot and similar to Pomerol and saint julien, without mineral tastes, not a Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon anymore. A solid 94 points. Recommended with blue and Gorgonzola cheeses and spicy foods.
