Sunday, February 22, 2009 - Black currant, red licorice, fig, earth, cedar on a dark and jammy, but also slightly floral, nose. Plenty of black fruit here, layered and fairly refined, although open-knit and ripe. Blackberry, plum, black currant, and there is a touch of toasted oak on the finish, which is medium to long, and has bittersweet chocolate and black licorice. Despite the obvious new world leanings, there is old world structure and discipline here.
