Thursday, June 11, 2015 - Monthly Tasting Group -- Two Single-Vineyard Double-Blind Flights (Chez John Morris): Served double-blind. The nose is ripe and powerful with licorice, black cherry, and herbs -- a very Barolo-ish character. But in the mouth this is clearly Burgundy, no Nebbiolo I've yet tasted has this sort of textural sophistication with tannins that are both rich and velvety and airy at the same time. This has that wonderful savory/umami character that comes from age and that is quite different from the meaty/brett character I get in a lot of Syrah. Lovely.
