2000 Château Lynch-Bages

Community Tasting Note

98 Points

Thursday, March 31, 2011 - Decanted for two hours before consumption. Rich nose, quite enchanting - cherry, chocolate, sweet tobacco, cedar, graphite. A soft, elegant wine that was perfectly balanced and had an extremely long finish. Tannins were modest and silky in texture, some spice. As the wine slowly opened the fruit intensified, especially mid-palate, black cherry with forest floor and just a slight note of butterscotch emerging. Cedar also became more prominent in both flavor and aroma. My best guess is that is in the early stages of a long, enjoyable drinking window. Wine of the year for me thus far, a beautiful representation of Bordeaux.
