Saturday, May 14, 2011 - Vinturi decant three hours; rebottle for transit to restaurant. A good bit of sediment, but very clear otherwise. Beautiful plum/dark fruit nose with restrained notes of sweet tobacco and cherry, with a smooth and 'under'bearing forest floor presence. Actually quite soft and feminine for a Pauillac; wonderful balance and a delightfully long finish. I know the tannin reserve will carry this wine for years, but you sure can't taste or sense it: no mouth-puckering or astringency of any kind. Fruit pushed into mid-palate late. Just wonderful right now!
