Saturday, December 6, 2003 - Tasted blind at Jason & Tracy's. I immediately guessed Bordeaux 2000 (good) based on the nose, but incorrectly guessed Monbousquet (bad) due to the smoke & charcoal that was very evident. This wine is terribly shut down, and over the course of eight hours it barely budged. Whatever fruit is there (and I remember it 6 months ago when it was oozing with fruit) is now trapped behind an iron curtain of tannins. The nose shows a lot of initial mineral, graphite, and char. After about 6 hours some tobacco and black cherry emerge, but the palate barely budged. This was a disappointing showing, but this wine will be back in force in 10 years...
