Monday, December 8, 2008 - Lynch Bages Vertical Focused on Parker 91+ Point Reds (Sweets and Savories. Fullerton near Ashland. Chicago. IL): Sight: Dense purple/plum color.
Nose: Initial impression that leaped at me was tobacco and a dark, lush, fruit brooding nose. Similar to some of the other great wines this evening in nose - buckets of cassis, leather, tobacco, cedar, pencil, and some minor flower notes.
Palate: Can a wine be tough and tame at the same time? Perhaps a gentle giant is how I would describe this. Mouth coating, immense, plush, velvety and just oh so pour me some more and leave me alone feeling. Well balanced and just a wonderful example from Lynch.
Overall: I think this will become greatness and warrant higher scores in the future, but is just too young at this point. 93 points.
