1995 Château Léoville Poyferré

Community Tasting Note

93 Points

Saturday, January 19, 2013 - Double decanted over 4h. This wine appears surprisingly young, fantastic intense nose dominated by sweet red and black currents, a small hint of pencil shavings and forest floor. The fruit is not very pronounced, yet still more than one would expect for a -95. Nice acidity and fine tannins that gives the wine a reasonable grip still, with earth and minerals very noticeable. It is perhaps a little thin on the mid-pallet, but this wine is delicious and still has many years ahead of it.
