Friday, June 27, 2014 - From a pristinely-cellared bottle kindly provided to our tasting group by J.P., this blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec (73% Estate fruit) flaunts an intense nose of black currants, lavender potpourri, anise, fig and minerals. Full-bodied, round and with big sweet tannins, it offers ripe black fruit and mineral flavors with a minimum of alcoholic heat (13.9%). The flavors build on the middle palate and the smooth finish is lengthy. This 13-year-old Cabernet is still a baby! I guessed that it was a high-end Napa Cab, circa 2009. While certainly very pleasurable now, those with patience will be rewarded. Drink 2017-2025.
