Tuesday, December 25, 2007 - From .375: Decanted 2 hours, consumed over the following 4 hours. Nice red fruit on the nose. Well-integrated blackberry flavors, with tobacco, some faint oak and an alcohol burn. Towards the end of the 4 hour drinking window the alcohol had virtually disappeared, and the wine became far better-balanced. This was tasted alongside a .375 of the 2001 Montelena Estate, and was a better wine overall, with more complexity and a noticeable CaliCab profile, where the Monty was a little "flatter" and more bordeaux-like.
