Sunday, June 7, 2015 - First sniff mulberry and dust, so immediately in my good books. To taste, at ten years old, comes across as a youthful MR cabernet of restrained, controlled power. Blackcurrant, red berries, dark chocolate. Graphite, a touch of mint, maybe spearmint, also with air a touch of capsicum. Black tea like tannins, lots of. Balanced well enough, though sometimes the acid sticks out. Finish is impressively long. So, many elements of this wine are outstanding, but somehow it doesn't flow from start to finish as an outstanding wine. Not quite the sum of its parts. Maybe in time. Tasted over six hours, so gave it a fair chance tonight. To be truthful that first sniff was my favourite moment.
