Saturday, December 25, 2010 - The third of a 2006 Ridge Zinfandel horizontal we tasted on Christmas day. My least favorite of three, ranking well behind the Nervo and Pagani Ranch. This wine is 95% Zinfandel/5% Petite Sirah. The apearance was purple, but slightly less purple than the other Ridge wines I had today (I'm guessing that's due to this wine having the greatest percentage of Zinfandel). Much more oak and wood on the nose than fruit. I thought this wine tasted a little bitter. Blackberry was present with sharper tannins. The finish was shorter than the first two. Not bad, but trails the other Ridge wines I mentioned above in the nose, palate, and finish.
