Wednesday, May 21, 2014 - Medium ruby, medium legs and almost no sediment in the bottle. A bit of bret/funk on the nose that obscured the wine initially. After an hour decant, cranberries and tart cherry, but not giving up much charm. I poured back into the bottle after one glass and put some nitrogen in. Another glass two days later and finished the bottle three days later ... what a difference! I had almost written the wine off after the first night, but after sitting a few days, the bret was gone, and lovely fruit, bright acidity, some graphite and gravel and a long lingering finished emerged. I would say this wine needs a good 4 hour decant, a double decant overnight or an all day slow ox.
