Monday, February 2, 2009 - Opened but not decanted for 8 or so hours...very deep fruit on the nose and palate, especially black cherries, this wine is open for business and drinking very nicely now. Yes there's some oak, and for those very sensitive to it, this may not be your wine. But while I was worried about it going in, the oak isn't as strong as M. Laurent's reputation would suggest and the excellent, sweet (but in no way candied) dark fruit overwhelmed the oak and made this an extremely engaging drink, and I suspect that continued aging may absorb at least some more of that oak. Must have had a reasonably high level of whole clusters, which provides a very nice depth to the flavor.
