Monday, February 23, 2009 - Still early on this but wanted to try it. Nose is incredible, on the palate this is still a bit all over the map but day 2 it was coming together nicely....had alongside an 06 LC Cherry Red. Different varietals but same year/same location (Westside Paso) and this wine really came across darker with more depth and less sweetness than the zin based LC (though I love Matt's wines for other reasons). It was interesting to taste side by side. This wine on day 2 was finishing with a creamy blueberry finish that was awesome. The front/middle of the wine had so much going on I don't have the vocab to describe but it was pure and intense. For the life of me I cannot understand why quality CA Syrah does not have a bigger market...selfishly I'm happy it's not becoming more expensive so I'll keep my mouth shut.
