Tuesday, September 16, 2014 - The 2006 Carlisle Cardiac Hill is a very different wine from the 2008. While the latter was rich and opulent, the 2006 was more rustic and brambly. Lots of peppery, thick-cut bacon, and finishes with a fascinating lavender or herbal tea, mineral characteristic that was borderline medicinal. Not in a bad way, as I kept sipping on it to figure it out. In my opinion, this wine tastes less like a syrah and more like field blend of mixed blacks, including zin. It reminded me a little of a Ridge Lytton Springs, but somewhat less composed.
