Saturday, June 7, 2003 - (Dinner with Christophe & Alex) I am such a sucker for aged Bordeaux. The nose was screaming of tobacco with some lovely floral elements and cedar. This was just a lovely nose of mature Bordeaux with beautiful complexity. On the palate this was initially stern and brooding with massive structure and mouth searing tannin, although after a few hours it softened and had a gorgeous, soft mid palate. Despite this, loads of structure is still evident, and this wine clearly has a long life ahead. The finish show dustiness, persistence and purity. A simply lovely bottle and much nicer than one Mark and I shared a couple of months ago.
