Tuesday, October 1, 2013 - Popped and poured. Medium-ruby/orange colour. Very, very pretty aromas of dried cherries, violets, red licorice, leather, dried currants, and a touch of alcohol. Medium-bodied, with more dried red fruits and flowers. Tannins are integrating nicely and the wine shows pretty good balance. The finish is clipped slightly and shows some chalkiness, but there's no denying this is a very satifying Langhe Nebbiolo. Sottimano's Langhe Nebbiolo is sourced solely from the Basarin vineyard, but isn't labeled as a Barbaresco as the family doesn't deem the vines to be old enough yet. A steal for the consumer. Drink now-2020.
