Sunday, May 17, 2009 - Decanted and drunk over several hours. The nose already indicates that the acidity is crackling in this bottle: red fruit, cranberry, even some citrusy notes in the aromas. The palate is soft and smooth but very bright. This is coming from an acid-freak, but I don't find the tartness to overwhelm the fruit, though it does make the finish a touch sour. However, I don't find much if any tannin here, and this lack of structure would lead me to consider drinking this bottling over the next few years rather than hoping for a lot of evolution. It's pleasant enough for that, but fairly simple and just doesn't do a whole lot for me.
