Friday, February 8, 2013 - Stood upright and uncorked to slow-ox for 4hrs; decanted for sediment approx 1hr before drinking. The nose is so dominated by oak vanillin that I can't help but wonder how beautiful this wine might be without all the woody flavoring. Significantly less lumber intensity on the palate, and showing some maturation. Dark fruit and brown spice notes. Round, but not overly heavy. Seamless through the midpalate and maintaining acidic freshness, though another dose of dominating vanillin on the back-end obscures additional nuance and complexity. This has developed in a positive way since a previous bottle drunk about a year-and-a-half ago.
