90 Points

Sunday, November 25, 2012 - It was with pleasant surprise that I saw these on the shelf of Total wine last month; having only had the very tannic and shut 2005, I was eager to try this Chateau from both a very good and year and with a little age under its belt. Decanted 2 hrs. Very classic left bank aromas, cassis and damp earth of course, savory and both elegant. The palate has a nice round feel while being very light on its feet. I bet this was a bit of tannic bruiser when young, but today, the fruit seemed subtle but very comfortable in its left bank shoes. If there was any semblance of barrel, those day are long gone as this seems pretty integrated and at peak. I’m sure it will hold for many years to go. Very nice.
