Tuesday, December 7, 2004 - Very dark, almost opaque purple color. The nose was shy and of only modest intensity. Nevertheless, the nose revealed rather complex, ripe aromas of plums, currants, roasted herbs, smoke and a hint of tar. Some roasted espresso notes intermixed with some vanilla also made an appearance with airing.

On the palate, the wine was medium bodied with the tannins reaching the front of the mouth. Seems a bit compressed and closed at the moment. However, the finish is quite long and intense, although not as impressive as expected based on the enthusiastic Parker rating. The tannins are sweet and ripe but drying, at least for the moment. An elegant wine nonetheless, with a good furture ahead, I guess. Although drinkable, I would wait at least 5 years before opening another bottle. Drink 2008-2015
