Thursday, October 29, 2015 - Purchased as futures and perfectly cellared. The color was dark red, with ruby on the rim, maybe a hint of garnet at the very edge; still seems relatively youthful. This has notes of blackberries, currants, smoke, tree bark, iron and earth. The tannins are resolved, but this didn't really seem silky on the palate... a bit severe in style. I liked this and found it excellent for the price paid, but it didn't excite me. I will probably let this age 5 more years to see if it becomes less severe.
