Monday, September 15, 2008 - Cherry, currant, vanilla with lots of flavor and intensity with a tart-acid edge. Tannins are probably hiding under all that fruit. This was like a more intense version of the H-B 2001, which also showed a tart, cranberry edge, but with a harsher edge. Not that I'm an expert, but I can't believe this wine is within five years of being ready. I disliked all the vanilla-cherry-tartness, and hope that this will mellow and turn into something age-worthy. Where is the cedar and elegance? This tastes more like a Rioja than a Bdx.
