Thursday, February 26, 2015 - A surprise when revealed!
I was sure that this was much older, and from a much cooler vintage than it turned out, when the bottle was revealed.
My blind guess was 1996 left bank, due to the dry fruit and high acidity.
No sign, at all, of the 2003 superhot vintage in this wine.
Nose shows a mature left bank profile, with fine somewhat dry cabernet Sauvignon fruit, stable tones, some nice herbs and vegetal notes and gravel present.
Palate is long, a bit of sour red berries, creamy and ripe tannins, good length with very high and fine acidity.
Fruit is drying, so I would enjoy any bottles I had now, and not wait much longer since this is on its way over the peak, judging from this bottle tasted tonight.
Good spot right now and a mature Bdx.
A very fine achievement from a 5éme Cru Chateau in a rather overall bad vintage.
I enjoyed this allot.
