Monday, September 29, 2008 - A medium-dark ruby in the glass, this red Bordeaux has an intriguing nose of dark cherry, raspberry, red currants, earth, and eucalyptus. These notes are repeated on the palate, along with pepper spice and significant initial drying tannins. This was decanted for one hour, which served to soften this wine and render its palate more expansive. A hint of raisin became apparent after an hour, but this was not at all cloying or offputting. The finish on this wine was on the order of 20 seconds. Overall, this is an excellent wine and was a very good match for our grilled t-bone steaks. It would have rated higher with more complexity and a longer finish.
