Thursday, November 8, 2012 - On the nose, rancio and slightly oxidized fruit, rather like an amontillado sherry, which is a bit off-putting. The attack is weak and acidic, with fading red fruits, but this is followed up by a very rich and deep middle section, full of mature, jammy redcurrants, with earthiness and power. Quite a good finish too. Overall this is not bad, not a good example of a 1990, nor of Lafon-Rochet, which has improved immeasurably since. It certainly needs finishing now before it completely fades away.
