Friday, July 11, 2014 - This is my last bottle, I waited 2 years since drinking the previous one. Like that bottle, this one has been open about a day, I drank maybe 1/3rd of it y/day. Based on my note from August 2012, and the bottle tonight, my impressions are different. And it's not the wine that has changed, it's me. I used to enjoy wines that exhibit these markers, I owned many of them. It's got a lot of texture, dark fruit, indeed there is acid and verve, but there is a lot of fruit that is too ripe for me now, too much alcohol, spicy. The florality still shines from the aromatic, there is iron in the palate, all the things that were there in 2012, and indeed things about CA syrah that many people like and pursue, just no longer me. This may be the last bottle of this style for me now in my cellar and as a long time and enduring Carlisle freak, it's a mixed goodbye
