Monday, September 28, 2009 - Unlike most past vintages, this is totally different to the 2006 Ornellaia. More fruit-forward and expressive right now but lacks the elegance, complexity and depth of the Grand Vin, which is quite natural given the price difference. However, this is not a simpler, less concentrated version of Ornellaia, but has a different character. That said it remains a very good, full-bodied wine with lots of black cherry fruit and coffee, soft tanins and balancing acidity, leading to a long finish.
