2005 Bodega Weinert Carrascal

Community Tasting Note

Friday, August 27, 2010 - I've always thought Weinert's wines were underrated and underpriced and at £6.99, I think this is good value. A blend of Malbec and other Bordeaux varietals, it tastes like it's aged in old oak for some time - a refreshing change to the large amount of new oak being used in already very ripe new world wines. It makes me think of mature and dried berry fruits and leather, which is a good thing I hasten to add, and structurally it's all there. I'd drink this over the next 12 months if I had any more.
