Sunday, January 15, 2012 - Floral perfume as soon as the cork came out, cloudy ruby color, complex medium weight palate of spices, herbs and red berries, long spice finish. Very well balanced as others have mentioned. Very characteristically clos des papes, no mistaking it for anything else. Excellent!

We had this next to a 2001 Beaucastel, and while the Beaucastel was very good, this positively clobbered it. Both the nose and palate were closed and muted in comparison, the palate not nearly as layered and complex.
