Friday, October 12, 2012 - Deep garnet color; slight bricking. I still get some browning on the rim, but not as much as I last recall. The fill is to the neck, about a half-inch from the cork. Storage at 56 degrees from when it first hit the market. I’ll have to say the wine is more solid and up tempo than my last two tastings. Aromas and flavors of cherry, blackberry, soft black currant, quality roasted coffee, leather, cigar box, herbs. Seems more powerful, rich and concentrated in the mouth; more like it was several years ago. I’m revising my prior thoughts and now believe that the wine has probably reached just past the center of its drinking plateau. A long, smooth and again very pleasant finish. I have two more bottles left and won’t be in too much of a rush to consume them. Paired fine with a prime hanger steak; still, the wine is better appreciated by itself.
