Community Tasting Note

Saturday, October 8, 2011 - Label disintegrated and cork soaked right through but came out fine. No leakage and levels well into the neck. Seemed a little woody to start as it came out of the celler. After around 30 mins this was really hitting it's stride. Notes of violets and saddle leather (teeniest touch of brett?) on the nose, supplemented by leather on the gentle palate whose tannins were pretty well resolved. Nice balance too and a lovely surprise for a lowly wine of 41 years age. Not very claretty perhaps. Still delicious though.
