87 Points

Monday, July 20, 2015 - This presents itself as a reasonably good Barbaresco in that the wine was pretty simple. Red fruit, a bit of menthol on the nose, decent acidity. It was distinguished only by a lengthy finish that started tannic and then dissolved in an entirely pleasant way. I had opened (but not decanted) six hours before dinner. Wine poured in the glass to track evolution showed not much - a bit of softening of tannins over time. None of the characteristics of a really good Barolo - no rose petals, no tar. Good thing I bought this cheap.
Okay. So I was hasty. Three days later this turned into something with depth, soft tannins and a fair bit of burly grace. Still aggressively acidic but if I had more I would sit on it five years or so. Originally scored 87 but has improved to something more like 90. Not quite but close.
