Friday, August 9, 2013 - Decanted off of its relatively heavy sediment and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours, this medium garnet wine shows an intense nose of red plums, garrigue, sage, fig and cocoa. It is medium-bodied on the palate, with fresh acidity, light residual tannins and well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13.5%). The flavors are in line with the nose and the middle palate is solid. Concluding with a lengthy, smooth finish, it leaves the taster yearning for more. This Châteauneuf is absolutely delicious! Well-cellared bottles should provide enjoyment for another three years (or more). Drink now-2016.
