Wednesday, September 14, 2016 - 70% Monastrell 30% Cabernet. Popped and poured. Opaque black/purple. No sign of age. Oak and vanilla, some alcohol, floral notes emerge with time, red fruits, minerals/dust, a roastiness came on later. On the palate medium body, very ripe but fresh, no raisins, sour cherries, thins out over the two hours drinking the bottle. The finish is bright, crisp acidity, some heat, fine grained drying tannin, oak returns in the finish. The pure ripe fruit was very nice at first, but too much alcohol and oak got in the way. Seemed far more like Cab than Mourvedre, drying and shrill by the end of the bottle.
