Community Tasting Note

Monday, September 22, 2003 - Drank over two nights, half bottle each night.

Night one.
Nose- some strong herbal notes- which were a concern, eucalyptus, cedar, tobacco. From the limited experience I have with previous vintages of cantemerle, the herbal/eucalyptus nose seems to be signature for them (at least young cantemerle).

Fairly tight on the palate. Fairly Tannic, but not in an unripe way. Finish seemed a bit shorter than I hoped for, but added length and fruit over the three hours of drinking the first half bottle.

Night two.
(had been poured into a clean half bottle and sealed)
Most of the herbal notes are gone (they HAD seemed slightly strong the night before, still some eucalyptus, cedar, much more fruit on the nose though.

Added some weight and depth over the night. This is a bigger wine and has a longer finish to it than the night before. Black fruit, currant, some oak. Tannins still fairly present, but again not unpleasant.
