Sunday, May 19, 2013 - Decanted 2 hrs then served with a perfect grilled strip steak on the patio during a beautiful 72 degree day. Hard being fair as the steak may have helped carry the wine, though this was much better than my previous bottle a couple of years ago. Med/med+ body with fully ripe dark red fruits and accompanying notes of pencil lead, cigar, gravel, and a bit of Bordoughy funk. Palate is balanced nicely between lush ripeness and austerity. Fully mature but in no danger of falling of the cliff. Excellent claret... 89-90 sounds about right.
