Saturday, June 30, 2012 - Great wine. Fill and color excellent, the label was weathered, but the cork intact. We enjoyed this superb wine while traveling in the Perigord at a lovely auberge. The vintage, while good for Sauternes, was not considered a great one for dry white bordeaux, but this bottle was splendid. Old earth, musty with citrus, honey and excellent structure. There is lovely, grassy semillion - mown hay, but the hay is now in sheaf, autumnal and glorious. This held up extremely well through dinner. I wonder if anyone makes a wine like this anymore - so regal, balanced and subtle. One of the best white wines we've had in a while.
