Wednesday, May 4, 2011 - Pop and pour. Nose a bit tight but displayed pure black and blue berries, beef juice, and earth. Very smooth on the palate with nicely integrated acid and tannins. Nice mix of savory pepper and Rhone-like minerality balanced with more of the dark berries. This wine was realy able to pull off the dark profile without being overripe or using obtrusive oak. I really like this style. Surprised at the balance, especially after pop and pour. Can't wait to try the '07 and '08!
