Saturday, September 18, 2010 - So what one word immediately comes to mind after taking a sniff-swirl-n-sip of this wine?

Simple...as in simple pleasure.

Not so much a Pinot Noir to ponder, but a Pinot Noir to enjoy without pretensions and without much in the way of complexity. If we are only considering this wine as a pure value play, keeping in mind that this particular bottle was purchased for $18 locally (SF Bay Area), there is no question that this is an excellent buy!

Okay, in a fit of wine nerdity (sp?), I am going to do my best to deconstruct the constituent parts of this wine. First, the nose brings a solid dose of bright cherry, spice, and just a hint of a green herbal edge. All of this comes together quite nicely.

First sip, making those disgusting air over the palate noises, and this Pinot Noir serves up an immediate dose of those same cherries that greeted me with my first sniff. This is a very soft, relatively full wine that scores high on the satisfaction scale.

At this price point I would seriously consider making this the house wine. No doubt, this is an outstanding value play that deserves any Pinot Noir lovers attention.
